A Website Or A Blog? 30 August 2010

SIMPLE ANSWER: USE BOTH! To be successful in Affiliate Marketing you need to run it as a business incorporating many traffic generation potentials in order to maintain maximum exposure in the marketplace. Having both a website and a blog and using their unique potentials will help to ensure your success when marketing online.
Lets look into why you should have both a website and a blog working together for the sales campaign of your product.
FACT: Google loves blogs. There has been a lot of hype about recent changes to Google's algorithms which are believe to favour blogs over sites. The reason for this is many bloggers are constantly adding new blog posts with new content. Google at this time is really pushing this so why not use it. There is a belief that if you visit a normal website once you've read through it that's all there is to it and people wont visit the site again. Whereas as blog is updated regularly and people are more likely to visit again and again. Further to this Google is also rewarding any activity that is being seen on a blog in particular comments being made. If you are able to get your readers to comment about your blog rankings can generally improve dramatically. Worth thinking about.
Many marketing strategies hinge on developing a mailing list. If you develop a great blog and constantly develop new information on it you can send an email to your clients telling of those updates in a form of free gift. One thing I would suggest here is that you don't always use this as a possible sales copy. Give your subscriber good information and develop their trust within that blog. The earning potential from that alone could come back to you ten fold.
One huge advantage of having a paid Website is they are owned and payed for have a historical perception of trust for people looking to purchase a product online. Again this is slowly changing over time but should still be used as and advantage with the dual site approach. Remember you are trying to get as many visitors to your sites as possible. The more visits the more potential of sales the more money in you earn.

The Website providers I use are Just Host.com and Hostgator.com
Both have excellent rates for website rentals and both have very good generic website designs to choose from.
